Ingredients

  • 3/4 to 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 6 large cooking apples

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Mix sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour in a bowl.
  3. Peel and slice the apples.
  4. Toss the apple slices in the dry mixture.
  5. Place the coated apples into the pie crust.
  6. Dot the top of the apples with butter.
  7. Cover with the top crust.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 to 40 minutes.
