Apple And Onion Stuffing

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil ⓘ
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 c. chopped celery ⓘ
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. ground sage ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. dried thyme ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes ⓘ
- 1 tsp. vegetable broth mix ⓘ
- 1 Granny Smith apple, unpeeled and chopped ⓘ
- 6 slices whole wheat bread, cubed ⓘ
- 1/2 c. water ⓘ
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion, chopped celery, and minced garlic to the skillet.
- Saute until tender, then remove from heat.
- Sprinkle poultry seasoning, ground sage, dried thyme, and vegetable broth mix over the onion mixture.
- Stir to blend.
- Add chopped Granny Smith apple and bread cubes to the mixture.
- Toss the stuffing, gradually adding water until the bread is just moistened. Add more water if a moister stuffing is desired.
- Place the stuffing in a lightly oiled 1-quart baking dish.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
