Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 4 large cooking apples
  • 1/3 cup melted margarine
  • cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Sift together the flour, sugar, and baking powder into a bowl; add the beaten egg and mix lightly with a fork until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Wash, peel, and slice the apples.
  4. Arrange the sliced apples in a greased 8-inch square pan.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the apples.
  6. Pour the melted margarine over the top.
  7. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  8. Bake for 40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
