Ingredients

  • 1 spice cake mix
  • 2 cups apple pastry filling
  • 1/3 cup brandy
  • whipped cream for icing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the box spice cake mix according to the package directions, using an angel food cake pan.
  2. Let the cake cool completely.
  3. Keeping the top whole, slice off 1 inch from the top of the cake and set aside.
  4. Scoop out the center of the ring-shaped cake.
  5. Place the removed cake pieces in a bowl and sprinkle with brandy.
  6. Fill the center of the cake with apple pastry filling, alternating with the cake pieces.
  7. Replace the top of the cake and smooth whipped cream over the entire cake as icing.
  8. Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
