Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large cooking apples
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix dry cake mix, softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until crumbly.
  3. Reserve 2/3 cup of the crumbly mixture.
  4. Press the remaining crumbly mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9-inch rectangular pan.
  5. Arrange thinly sliced cooking apples over the crumbly mixture in the pan.
  6. Beat sour cream and egg until blended; spread over the apples.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved crumbly mixture over the top.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the topping is light brown.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.
