Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons oleo
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons Spry or Crisco
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Combine water, oleo, and brown sugar, heat, then set aside.
  2. Mix sifted flour, baking powder, 1 tablespoon sugar, salt, Crisco, eggs, and milk to form a pie crust-like dough.
  3. Roll out the dough and spread grated apples evenly over it.
  4. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the apples.
  5. Roll up the dough jelly roll fashion.
  6. Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch slices.
  7. Lay slices flat in syrup and pour remaining syrup over the rolls.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
