- Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in the Crisco shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a cup, put the egg yolk and add enough milk to measure 2/3 cup.
- Add the egg yolk mixture to the flour mixture and mix well.
- Roll out the dough into an 11 x 15-inch rectangle.
- Place the dough into a raised edge cookie sheet.
- Cover the crust with crushed corn flakes.
- Mix sliced apples with cinnamon and 1 1/2 cups sugar, then spread over the corn flakes.
- Roll out the remaining dough for the top crust and place over the filling.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg white.
- Bake in a 400°F oven for 40 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly and then glaze before serving.
