Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 6 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 6 sheets phyllo dough
  • 1/4 lb. butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Spread (brush) phyllo dough with melted butter.
  2. Cover with damp paper towels.
  3. Mix apples, raisins, sugar, and lemon juice.
  4. Spread fruit mixture down the center of the prepared phyllo dough.
  5. Roll the dough jelly roll style to enclose the filling.
  6. Make 3 diagonal knife slits on top of the rolled pastry.
  7. Spread the top with melted butter.
  8. Sprinkle the top with sugar.
  9. Bake at 370°F until golden brown and the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
