Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup tapioca
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cups sliced tart apples
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Let stand for 5 minutes to soften the tapioca.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer until the tapioca and apples are tender, or bake at 350°F until tender.
  4. Serve warm, sprinkled with nutmeg and topped with a scoop of ice cream.
