Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 box gingerbread mix
  • whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in the bottom of a 9-inch square cake pan.
  2. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over the melted butter in the pan.
  3. Arrange peeled and sliced apples on top of the brown sugar mixture in an even layer.
  4. Prepare gingerbread mix according to package instructions and pour over the apple slices in the pan.
  5. Bake as directed on the gingerbread mix package, approximately 30-35 minutes.
  6. Allow the cake to cool slightly, then invert onto a serving plate.
  7. Garnish with whipped cream before serving.
