Ingredients

  • 6 medium yams
  • 4 peeled, sliced tart apples
  • cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 stick melted butter

Instructions

  1. Bake sweet potatoes at 400°F for 40 to 60 minutes or cook covered in boiling water for 30 to 35 minutes until tender.
  2. Drain, cool, and remove the skin from the sweet potatoes.
  3. Grease a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
  4. Slice peeled tart apples.
  5. Alternate layers of sweet potatoes and apples in the prepared dish, sprinkling each layer with cinnamon, brown sugar, and melted butter.
  6. Ensure the top layer is apples.
  7. Bake covered at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake for an additional 45 minutes until golden and bubbly.
