Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 stick oleo (butter)
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 can sour cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Blend together 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 stick of oleo (butter).
  3. Add sweet milk, baking powder, and flour to the mixture.
  4. Mix until you have a stiff batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased pan.
  6. Drain the can of sour cherries, reserving the juice.
  7. Spread the cherries evenly over the batter.
  8. Bake until golden and cooked through, approximately 30 minutes.
