Ingredients

  • 1 c. dates
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts
  • powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Soak dates in hot water with soda, approximately 30 minutes.
  3. Drain, set aside.
