Ingredients

  • 1 gal. jug whole dill pickles
  • 4 lb. sugar
  • 1 oz. Tabasco hot sauce
  • pickling spices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Drain off and throw away all vinegar from the jug of dill pickles.
  2. Cut pickles into wheels, not too thin.
  3. Return the pickles to the gallon jug and add the sugar.
  4. Layer the pickles and sugar a couple of times for better mixing.
  5. Tighten the lid on the jar and turn; shake the jar several times a day until all the sugar has dissolved.
  6. Add 1 ounce of Tabasco hot sauce and mix well by turning the jug upside down several times.
  7. Let the pickles sit for a week to 10 days until crisp and flavorful.
