Ingredients

  • 7 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 pound bacon

Instructions

  1. Mix 2 1/2 cups of flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and undissolved yeast in a bowl.
  2. Heat milk, water, and bacon grease to 120° to 130°, then gradually add to the dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes at medium speed.
  3. Add the egg and 1 cup of flour; beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cooked bacon and enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
