Ingredients

  • 5 lb. potatoes
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 3 slices bread
  • 12 oz. canned milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes, then drain well.
  2. Add chopped onions to the grated potatoes.
  3. Fry bacon until crisp, then crumble into the potato mixture.
  4. Add the bacon fat to the mixture.
  5. Soak bread slices in water, then squeeze out the water.
  6. Crumble the soaked bread into the potato batter.
  7. Add milk, salt, and pepper to the mixture.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for one hour until golden and cooked through.
