Ingredients

  • beans (any kind)
  • ham or beef
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 1 crushed garlic clove
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • 1 or 2 c. broken macaroni

Instructions

  1. Take a cup and a half of beans, wash, cover with water. Add
  2. a tablespoon
  3. of salt;
  4. soak for at least three hours or overnight. Put beans in 2 1/2-quarts of water and boil slowly for 2
  5. 1/2
  6. to 3 hours.
  7. Add chunks of ham or beef.
  8. Salt and pepper
  9. to taste. Cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours more.
  10. Add tomatoes,
  11. onion,
  12. garlic, lemon juice, green pepper and macaroni. Cook for 30 minutes. Serve with hot sliced French bread and a tossed salad.
