- Pour the scalded and slightly cooled milk into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the sugar, Mazola oil, salt, and nutmeg to the milk and stir well.
- Add the dry yeast last and let it activate for a few minutes.
- Add the white flour and whole wheat flour to the mixture and knead with dough hooks until well blended.
- Turn out the dough onto a floured board and knead by hand until manageable.
- Roll out the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut out doughnut shapes and let them rise for 5 minutes.
- Deep fry the doughnuts in Mazola oil at 375°F until golden brown.
- Drain the doughnuts on paper towels.
- Frost the doughnuts and dip in slivered almonds, chopped nuts, or coconut.
