Ingredients

  • 4 baking potatoes
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the baking potatoes into chunks.
  2. Boil potatoes in water for about 20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain well.
  3. Return drained potatoes to the pot.
  4. In a saucepan, beat milk and butter over low heat until the butter melts.
  5. Stir in salt and pepper into the milk and butter mixture.
  6. Pour the milk and butter mixture into the potatoes.
  7. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or mixer until smooth.
