Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Let sugar, water, and vinegar cook to soft ball stage.
  2. Pour half of the syrup slowly over stiffly beaten egg whites.
  3. Continue beating the mixture.
  4. Return the remaining half of the syrup to the stove and cook until hard ball stage.
  5. Pour the hot syrup slowly over the egg whites, beating continuously until the mixture reaches proper thickness to spread.
