Tips & Substitutions

For best results, use fresh chicken breasts for a tender texture. If you prefer a lighter option, substitute the butter with olive oil. You can also switch the mozzarella for a cheese with a stronger flavor, like provolone. To enhance the dish, add fresh herbs such as thyme or parsley for a burst of flavor. If you want to experiment, try adding some capers or sun-dried tomatoes in the baking dish.

Serving Suggestions

This lemon chicken pairs beautifully with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad. Consider serving it alongside a light pasta dish, like Chicken Spaghetti(Our Family Favorite!), for a satisfying meal. For a complete dinner, crusty bread to soak up the flavorful sauce is a great addition. A glass of chilled white wine complements the dish perfectly.

Storage & Reheating

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the chicken in a baking dish with a splash of white wine or broth to keep it moist, cover with foil, and heat in a preheated oven at 350°F until warmed through, about 20 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen chicken breasts for this recipe?

Yes, you can use frozen chicken breasts, but it's best to thaw them completely before cooking for even cooking and to ensure the chicken is tender. Thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or use the defrost setting on your microwave. Adjust the cooking time slightly if the chicken is still a bit frozen when you start cooking.

What can I substitute for white wine in this recipe?

How can I make this dish spicier?

To add some heat to the dish, consider sprinkling red pepper flakes over the chicken before baking.
