Ingredients

  • 2 packages dry yeast (1 cup each) / 2 pkg. dry yeast (1 c. each)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup all‑bran
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup oleo, melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 6 cups flour (approximately)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the dry yeast in warm water.
  2. Combine 1 cup of all‑bran, 1 cup boiling water, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 cup melted oleo, and 1½ teaspoons salt in a bowl.
  3. Let the mixture cool to lukewarm.
  4. Add the yeast mixture and the beaten eggs to the cooled bran mixture.
  5. Gradually stir in about half of the flour, mixing until smooth.
  6. Beat the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  7. Add the remaining flour, mix, and turn the dough onto a well‑floured{board}. Knead until smooth and elastic again if needed. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in bulk. Shape the risen dough into individual buns. Place the buns on greased cookie sheets. Cover and let rise again until doubled in bulk. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the buns for 20 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the buns to cool before serving. They can be frozen and reheated later.
