Tips & Substitutions

For optimal fermentation, ensure your container is in a warm, dark place. If you prefer a less sweet flavor, consider reducing the amount of brown and regular sugar. You can substitute white raisins with golden raisins for a different taste. A splash of vanilla extract can also enhance the flavor profile. Always check the yeast expiration date to ensure proper fermentation.

Serving Suggestions

This brandy is perfect for sipping neat or on the rocks. It pairs beautifully with Leola'S Cabbage Salad for a refreshing contrast. You can also use it in mixed drinks or as a flavorful addition to desserts. Consider serving it alongside cheese platters or fruit-based desserts to enhance the overall experience.

Storage & Reheating

Once fermented, store your brandy in sterilized glass jars or bottles. Keep it in a cool, dark place to maintain its flavor. It can last for several months if properly sealed. To enjoy, no heating is necessary; simply pour over ice or use it in cocktails. If you prefer warm drinks, gently heat it on the stove, avoiding boiling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use other fruits instead of peaches?

Yes, you can experiment with other fruits like apricots or plums. Just ensure they are canned in syrup to maintain the sweetness and consistency needed for fermentation.

How do I know when the brandy is ready?

The brandy is ready after six weeks of fermentation. You should notice a change in aroma and flavor. If it smells alcoholic and has a distinct fruity scent, it's a good indicator that it's ready to bottle.

What should I do if my brandy doesn’t ferment?

If fermentation doesn't occur, check the yeast's freshness and ensure the mixture was kept warm. You can try adding a small amount of sugar to help kickstart fermentation. If problems persist, consider starting a new batch with fresh ingredients.
