Ingredients

  • 14 oz. package wrapped caramels
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 package Betty Crocker German Chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 cup melted margarine
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Heat the caramels with 1/3 cup of evaporated milk and melt until smooth; set aside.
  2. Prepare the brownie layer by mixing Betty Crocker German Chocolate cake mix, melted margarine, nuts, and chocolate chips.
  3. Spread half of the brownie batter into a greased pan.
  4. Pour the melted caramel mixture evenly over the first layer.
  5. Top with the remaining brownie batter, spreading evenly.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
