A unique apple pie baked inside a brown paper bag, offering a crispy crust and warm spiced filling, perfect for cozy gatherings and apple lovers alike.

Ingredients

  • 6 large apples, pared, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
  • 9-inch unbaked pie shell
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except apples, pie shell, and lemon juice to coat the apples.
  2. Place the sliced apples into the unbaked pie shell and drizzle lemon juice over them.
  3. Sprinkle the prepared topping over the apples.
  4. Slice the brown paper shopping bag open and place the filled pie inside without touching the top of the bag.
  5. Double fold the end of the bag and fasten with paper clips. Place the bag on a cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 1 hour.
  7. Immediately split open the bag after baking.
  8. Allow the pie to cool before serving.
