Brueliatti are savory pinwheel rolls filled with seasoned ground beef, olives, onions, and cheese, perfect as an appetizer or hearty snack for gatherings or family meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 to 1/2 lb. Greek black olives, pitted and quartered
  • 1 medium onion, chopped thinly
  • Romano cheese, grated
  • black pepper

Instructions

  1. Open the crescent roll packages without separating into individual rolls.
  2. Unroll the two sheets and place them on a floured surface.
  3. Gently press together the perforated seams to form two rectangles.
  4. Lightly roll each rectangle with a floured rolling pin to about 5 x 10-20 inches.
  5. Coat each sheet lightly with olive oil, leaving a narrow strip along one long side unoiled.
  6. Crumble the raw ground beef over the dough; sprinkle with black pepper, grated Romano cheese, chopped onion, and quartered olives.
  7. Starting from one long edge, roll up jellyroll style toward the unoiled edge to seal.
  8. Cut each roll into 1 to 1.5-inch pinwheels and press them gently together.
  9. Place the pinwheels upright on an oiled baking sheet.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until golden.
  11. Serve hot. Can be baked, frozen, and reheated in the microwave.
