Brushetta(Grilled Bread)

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf day old Italian bread
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed peppercorns
  • garlic clove

Instructions

  1. Dice tomatoes.
  2. Mix with basil, salt, garlic salt and crushed peppercorn and let marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. Cut bread into 1/2-inch slices.
  4. Toast bread about 2 inches from broiler until golden brown (about 15 minutes).
  5. Rub toasted slices all over their browned bodies with garlic clove.
  6. Brush the slices with olive oil and top with tomato mixture and return to 350° oven for 5 minutes.
