Buttered Rum-Spiced Cider

Ingredients

  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup rum

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, add cider, cloves, nutmeg, ground cinnamon, and cinnamon sticks.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat; simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain mixture to remove cloves and cinnamon sticks.
  4. In individual mugs (6 mugs total), place 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons rum.
  5. Fill each mug with hot cider; stir.
  6. Enjoy.
