Butterflies are crispy, sweet treats made from egg roll skins, transformed into delicate butterfly or bow shapes. Perfect for parties or snacks, these golden-fried delights are drizzled with powdered sugar or syrup, offering a light, crunchy, and sugary bite that appeals to both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. 6 x 6-inch egg roll skins
  • 1 cup powdered sugar or Karo or light corn syrup
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Put two egg roll skins together and cut into thirds.
  2. Seal both ends of each piece with water.
  3. Cut a 1 1/2-inch slit in the center of each egg roll skin piece.
  4. Fold the skin back and around through the slit to form a loose bow or butterfly shape.
  5. Heat oil to 375°F.
  6. Deep fry the shaped skins until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels and sift powdered sugar or drizzle Karo syrup or light corn syrup over the skins.
