Cabbage Balls are savory stuffed cabbage leaves filled with seasoned ground meat and rice, baked in tomato juice for a hearty, comforting dish suitable for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. sausage
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 or 3/4 cup uncooked Minute rice
  • 1 can tomato juice

Instructions

  1. Boil the head of cabbage in a large pot until the leaves feel limp. Remove, drain, and cut off individual leaves.
  2. Mix together the ground beef, sausage, chopped onion, and uncooked rice.
  3. Place a small amount of the meat mixture in the center of a cabbage leaf and roll it up.
  4. Secure the cabbage roll with a toothpick.
  5. Place the cabbage balls in a deep pot and cover them with tomato juice.
  6. Put a lid on the pot and bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until tender.
  7. Remove the toothpick before serving.
