- Heat the hot water, brown sugar, salt, and vinegar until it comes to a boil. Let it cool.
- Add the whiskey to the cooled mixture.
- Pour the mixture over the cabbage wedges in a container such as a crock that can be weighed down.
- Put a weight on top of the cabbage to keep it submerged.
- Let it ferment for two days.
- Remove the weight, transfer the cabbage to jars or a plastic container, and refrigerate.
