Caias (Do-Nuts)

Caias are sweet, fried rice donuts with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg, topped with a vanilla glaze—perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert for any rice lover.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. cooked rice
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. Pet milk
  • 2 c. Bisquick
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • oil
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine cooked rice, Bisquick, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix eggs, pet milk, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and cooked rice mixture. Mix well.
  4. Chill the batter for 1 hour.
  5. Heat oil to 400°F.
  6. Drop the batter by tablespoonfuls into the hot oil.
  7. Fry about 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Make the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with vanilla and a small amount of water or milk as needed.
  9. Spoon the glaze over the hot Caias and serve.
