Camembert French Bread

A warm, cheesy French bread with melted Camembert, infused with basil and onion salt, perfect for sharing at gatherings or indulgent snack times.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Camembert cheese
  • 1 large loaf French bread
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion salt

Instructions

  1. Combine Camembert cheese, butter, basil, and onion salt in a saucepan.
  2. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Cool for 10 minutes until it starts to thicken, stirring occasionally.
  4. Slice the French bread lengthwise.
  5. Spread some of the cheese mixture on the cut surfaces of the bread.
  6. Put the loaf together and spread remaining cheese mixture on top and sides.
  7. Wrap the bread in foil and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 20 minutes.
  8. Unwrap and bake for an additional 5 minutes to brown the top.
  9. Slice and serve hot.
