Ingredients

  • 1/3 to 1/2 lb. bacon
  • 2 lb. round steak
  • 3 onions
  • 6 to 8 carrots
  • 6 to 8 potatoes
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Layer the bottom of the pot with bacon.
  2. Add a layer of round steak; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add a layer of sliced onions and sliced carrots; season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add a layer of sliced potatoes; season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour in 1 cup of water, cover, and cook slowly for about 1 hour on the stove, longer on a campfire.
  6. To serve, do not stir the layers.
  7. Cut through the layers and dish up.
