Ingredients

  • 3 cups sliced tart apples, peeled
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon or both
  • baking powder
  • biscuit dough or a mix

Instructions

  1. Place sliced tart apples in a deep pan.
  2. Cook until the apples are tender, adding a little water if necessary to prevent burning.
  3. Roll out biscuit dough or a baking powder mix to fit the pan.
  4. Spread the dough over the cooked apples.
  5. Cover the pan tightly with a lid or foil.
  6. Cook over moderate heat for 15 minutes.
  7. Turn out onto a serving dish and serve with cream.
