Carambola Jam

Sweet and tangy carambola jam features vibrant starfruit flavor, perfect for spreading on toast or pairing with cheeses. Suitable for fruit lovers and homemade jam enthusiasts.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups crushed carambola (starfruit)
  • 7 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter or margarine
  • 1 pouch Certo fruit pectin

Instructions

  1. Remove stems from the fruit.
  2. Peel the carambola.
  3. Remove seeds from the fruit.
  4. Crush the fruit and measure 4 cups into a 6 or 8 quart pot.
  5. Stir in 7 cups of sugar.
  6. Add 1/2 teaspoon of butter or margarine.
  7. Bring the mixture to a full boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
  8. Add Certo fruit pectin.
  9. Return to a full, rolling boil and boil for 1 minute.
  10. Remove from heat and skim off foam.
  11. Pour the jam into jars.
