Ingredients

  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter or oleo

Instructions

  1. Cook the light brown sugar, granulated sugar, milk, butter, and soda in a large thick pot to a soft ball stage on a candy thermometer.
  2. Add vanilla and beat on high until the mixture begins to thicken and loses its gloss.
  3. If you beat it too long, set the bowl in a pot of hot water and it will soften back up.
