Ingredients

  • 8 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup pecan halves toasted
  • 1 cup slivered almonds toasted
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 225°F.
  2. Combine popped corn and toasted pecan halves and slivered almonds in a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a saucepan, mix sugar, margarine, and light corn syrup.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
  5. Cook until the mixture turns a caramel color, about 280°F on a candy thermometer.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  7. Place the popcorn mixture in a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  8. Carefully pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and nuts, mixing well to coat evenly.
  9. Turn out onto the counter and quickly break into pieces.
  10. Store in a tightly covered container.
