Ingredients

  • 6 qt. seasoned popcorn
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. oleo
  • 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Bring all ingredients except popcorn and soda to a boil. Boil 5 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Stir in soda quickly after boiling.
  3. Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and peanuts; stir well to coat evenly.
  4. Place in a 250°F (120°C) oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and stir while cooling to break up clumps.
  6. Adjust salt to 1/2 teaspoon if no peanuts or salted peanuts are added.
