- In a bowl, combine sugar, salt, yeast, and 1 cup of flour.
- In a saucepan, heat salad oil and 3/4 cup water until very warm (125°F).
- With a mixer at low speed, beat the warm liquid into the dry ingredients.
- Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Reserve 1 egg yolk.
- Add the egg white, 2 eggs, and 1 cup of flour to the mixture in the bowl; beat for 2 minutes.
- Stir in 1 1/4 cups of flour.
- On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes, working in about 1/4 cup flour.
