Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. poppy seed

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sugar, salt, yeast, and 1 cup of flour.
  2. In a saucepan, heat salad oil and 3/4 cup water until very warm (125°F).
  3. With a mixer at low speed, beat the warm liquid into the dry ingredients.
  4. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Reserve 1 egg yolk.
  5. Add the egg white, 2 eggs, and 1 cup of flour to the mixture in the bowl; beat for 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in 1 1/4 cups of flour.
  7. On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes, working in about 1/4 cup flour.
