Cheddar Soda Bread

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter; Cut Into Pats
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1-1/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 whole Large Egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a square 8" or 9" round pan. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the butter, working into the flour until the mixture is crumbly. Toss in the shredded cheese. Mix the buttermilk and egg and add to the dry ingredients. Stir everything until just moistened. Scoop the dough into the pan, spread out evenly. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. It's is a wonderful firm cheese bread!
