Ingredients

  • 6 slices buttered bread, cut in cubes
  • 3/4 lb. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • dash of cayenne, paprika or pepper

Instructions

  1. Alternate bread cubes and grated cheese in a buttered casserole dish.
  2. Beat eggs until light and mix with milk, dry mustard, salt, and spices.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and cheese layers.
  4. Let stand in the refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
  6. Sprinkle with bacon bits before serving.
