Ingredients

  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup cooled mashed potatoes
  • 1/3 cup melted shortening
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups Occident flour (approximately)
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/3 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine cooled mashed potatoes, warm water, and 1 teaspoon of sugar in a bowl.
  2. Sprinkle dry yeast over the mixture and let stand until bubbly.
  3. Add melted shortening and well beaten eggs to the mixture.
  4. Gradually add Occident flour, stirring in enough to make a soft dough that is not as stiff as bread dough.
  5. Knead the dough until smooth.
  6. Let the dough rise until doubled in bulk.
