Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yellow cake mix
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 11 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Make the cake as directed on the yellow cake mix package.
  2. Bake the cake in two 9-inch round pans.
  3. Allow the cakes to cool completely.
  4. Soften the cream cheese in a mixing bowl.
  5. Add sugar, nutmeg, and lemon juice to the cream cheese and mix until smooth.
  6. Split each cake layer into two thin layers, creating four layers in total.
  7. Spread 1/2 cup of the cream cheese mixture and 1/2 cup of cherry pie filling between each layer and on top of the assembled cake.
  8. Refrigerate the cake until ready to serve.
