Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old fashioned or quick cooking oats
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring

Instructions

  1. Beat butter and brown sugar with a mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Combine flour, oats, and baking soda.
  3. Add to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until crumbly.
  4. Spread two-thirds of the oat mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. Press down to make a firm layer.
  6. Puree cherry pie filling in a blender, food processor, or mixer.
  7. Pour the cherry filling over the oat crust.
