Ingredients

  • 1 (1 lb.) can Bing cherries
  • 1 (1 lb.) can crushed pineapple
  • 1 (6 oz.) can black cherry Jell-O
  • 12 oz. can Coke
  • 1 cup blanched slivered almonds or pecans
  • 1 angel food cake
  • 1/2 cup orange juice

Instructions

  1. Choose your favorite fruits such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, peaches, nectarines, or blackberries, totaling three for variety and color.
  2. Drain the Bing cherries and crushed pineapple, set aside.
  3. Prepare the black cherry Jell-O according to the can instructions, using the Coke instead of water, and let it set partially.
  4. Brush the angel food cake chunks with orange juice to keep them moist.
  5. Layer the angel food cake chunks in a serving dish, then top with cherries, pineapple, nuts, and partially set Jell-O.
  6. Repeat layering as desired, ending with a layer of Jell-O and toppings.
  7. Chill the dessert for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.
