Cherry Fluffs are soft, sweet yeast pastries filled with bright maraschino cherries, perfect for breakfast or as a delightful dessert for gatherings and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups flour
  • maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in lukewarm water; add melted butter, sugar, and salt.
  2. Blend in egg.
  3. Gradually add sifted flour, mixing until dough is blended and soft.
  4. Roll out dough on a well-floured board.
  5. Brush lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
  6. Cut into 1 1/2-inch squares.
  7. Place half of a maraschino cherry in the center of each square.
  8. Let rise until light, about 25 minutes.
  9. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.
