Ingredients

  • 5 lb. onions
  • 4 cups bell pepper
  • 1/2 box pickling spice
  • 2 1/2 lb. sugar
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • dish pan of ripe tomatoes
  • salt
  • hot pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop tomatoes, onions, and peppers; season with salt and hot pepper to taste.
  2. Heat vinegar and add sugar along with the pickling spice bag; stir until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add chopped vegetables to the vinegar mixture and cook until tender, about 2 hours.
