Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • dash of salt
  • 2 3/4 cups flaked coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground chocolate with sugar added

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Beat egg whites with vanilla and salt until stiff.
  3. Gradually beat in sugar until mixture becomes glossy and stiff.
  4. Fold in coconut and ground chocolate until well blended.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of mixture onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until macaroons are firm and lightly browned.
  7. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
