Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients, except baking soda.
  2. Add 2 teaspoons baking soda to the hot water and stir well.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients with the mayonnaise, vanilla, and hot water mixture, then beat until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
